A middle of the night in the life of an OB
[00:00:00] Okay, it's three ish in the morning and I am walking into the hospital for a delivery. This is me walking down the hall. It's so empty, but at least it's bright, so it's not creepy. And now I am walking in to labor and delivery. Hello, old friend. I've been at this home for 23 and a half years. Crazy, right?
Just had an amazing delivery and I gotta say, as much as I'm a firm proponent in, I love, can you come delivery casual or C-section. When mamas do this quickly and are able to do it without epidural, especially because it's so fast, it just helps them recovery. So go take a nap. It is four 30 instead of driving all the way home and then coming back to do rounds.
So I'll take a nap here and then wake up and do rounds. This is the amazing call room. I'll [00:01:00] be quiet cuz other people are sleeping. And thank you to the house staff for doing these cute things up early. The coffee machine didn't work on labor and delivery, so I'm going to maternity get coffee before I do a c.
Hi y'all. And now I am leaving. It's 12 and I'm gonna go home. Hi. Okay, so that was the last eight-ish hours. I think I got to the hospital at three or three 30 and it's 12:00 PM and yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna go try to take a nap until something else happens. But people, the mothering is hard. I got to deliver delightful soul vaginally who went very fast.
And another delightful soul Abdominally, who very much medically needed the abdominal surgery. A K A, the C-section. No shade, no shame in any of them. And that's it. Women are amazing.
