Day 3 of 5 day fast facts list: Fibroids

[00:00:00] Day Three. Fast facts, five days fibroids. What are fibroids? Fibroids are benign growths of the muscle of the uterus. They can also be called myomas. My means muscle. Oma means growth. People refer to them as fibroid tumors. Tumor does not necessarily mean cancer. Tumor merely means growth, and so these are benign growth.

The uterus is made of muscle. It's like an upside down pair, and then within the wall of the actual uterine muscle or on the outside surface or within the inside lining, there can be fibroids. There are different types of fibroid. We're not gonna talk about every single type because it's too much for this one minute.

But fibroids are benign. They are very common. They can cause heavy pain, bleeding pressure, so sometimes they need to be removed. 70% of all women and 80% of black women have them. Many of you don't even know you have them because you've never needed a transvaginal ultrasound for anything. So they can be fined, found, coincidentally, or in the setting of pain, pressure, bloating, or heavy bleeding.

Do you have to have them removed? No. Unless they're causing pain, pressure, bloating, bleeding, that's a lot. Goodbye.
